Dana returned from holidays on the 29th and asked to put this meeting off until next week. We had nothing for the agenda.




 

Bin Cages

Main Entrance - Port Douglas Road
17 Oct 19 Qld Dept of Transport advise that the Bally Hooley Steam Train is responsible for the signs at our entrance.



The department is notifying the Bally Hooley Steam Train on our behalf. Given what is going on locally I would prefer them to do that. See News 2 below.

For Action
1. From Maintenance team; Villa 164 (Stage 2) balcony decking and joists need to be replaced at an approximate cost of $2500.

2. Owners of villas 157 to 162 need to be advised that council will continue with a clean up in the car park soon as part of their pre cyclone season maintenance. This may include the removal of dead, dying or diseased trees.

3. Villa 170 has non standard outside furniture. This villa is in a very prominent position next to the children's playground.

News
1. Martin Tenni OAM passed away on Sunday 20 Oct 19 at 85 years of age. Martin was one of Jo Bjelke-Petersen's ministers (holding several ministerial positions) and, pre-Skase, helped put Port Douglas on the tourism map.
2. John Morris 91, has gifted the Bally Hooley steam train company and most of it's assets to the Port Douglas and District Combined Clubs (Tin Shed). The club is now called Douglas Community & Sports Club Inc. Being a past vice president of the club we were at their AGM on Sunday 20 Oct 19. The acceptance of the gift is by no means a done deal. The GM of the club, Kym Rowley is standing for council next March.
3. Two established restaurants close their doors. Betty's Bohemian Cafe closed on 13 Oct and 2 Fish closed on 21 Oct. Both these restaurants were in the Coconut Grove Complex, Macrossan Street at the intersection with Davidson Street. They were surrounded by accommodation. More on 2 Fish >
4. Development of luxury apartments at 33 Davidson Street has stalled. This is a Chiodo Corp development. Chiodo has plans for a luxury hotel next to Oaks Resort (QT)
5. George Pitt passed away on Monday 28 Oct 19 at 71 years of age.

Maintenance Team
The two golf carts being used by the maintenance team have no warning signals when reversing and one does not have a parking brake.

Items for the next committee meeting include:
1. Repairs to Villa 164 balcony.
2. Letters to owners of Villas 157 to 162 advising of council clean up of carpark.
3. Repairs to golf carts.
